Join WNP Film Club on May 28th, 2026 for a screening of an underrated San Francisco film, Good Neighbor Sam (1964). In this screwball comedy from director David Swift based on a novel by Jack Finney, San Francisco advertising executive Sam Bissell (Jack Lemon) helps his wife’s best friend, their neighbor Janet (Romy Schneider), inherit $15 million by posing as her husband. Things get complicated when the charade spills into Sam’s work, sparks jealousy at home, and Janet’s estranged husband shows up! And yes, there’s even a car chase that rivals the one in Bullit (says at least one person).
