Join us for our third FOGCUTTER FILM SERIES as we screen the 1972 classic SOUNDER, nominated for 4 Academy Awards (best picture, best actress: Cicely Tyson, best actor: Paul Winfield, best adapted screenplay) directed by Martin Ritt (“Hud,” “Norma Rae,” “The Long Hot Summer”) and a Grammy for soundtrack by the legendary TAJ MAHAL, who will help introduce the film, perform a couple of songs live, and take part in a Q and A.
The evening will begin with our host Robert Mailer Anderson with aGramophone Concert, spinning 78s on a circa 1920’s record player (including tracks from Bessie Smith, Big Joe Turner, "Sugar Chile” Robinson…) at 6:30PM.
At 7pm we will welcome Taj Mahal to the stage to perform, and Robert and Taj will introduce the film.
At 7:30pm we will screen SOUNDER, followed by a Q&A with Robert and Taj.
