THE RICHMOND WINTER PROM
featuring music from
Uncle Chris
Uncle Chris is a six-piece collective born in the practice rooms of the University of San Francisco. Since 2018, they have been playing at various house shows and local venues around the city, bringing friends and strangers together for nights full of storytelling and improvisational spirit. Uncle Chris's sound is defined by a melodic saxophone, a soulful female vocal lead, and complex yet subtle conversations between the guitar and bass.
In 2019, the band released their debut single, "Green Eyes," which generated over 3.5 million streams on Spotify. Later during the 2020 lockdown, the band was able to channel their creative energy into producing and ultimately releasing two more albums, which seamlessly blend the complexities of jazz with the accessibility of indie pop, and are a testament to the band's unique sound and artistic vision.
Their third project, "Moon" is set to release on September 28th, 2024.
Country Risqué
Country Risqué is America’s riskiest country band: classic honky-tonk, modern values. Formed by singer-songwriters Miles Gordon and Daniel Bromfield who met in Eugene OR in 2012 and upon finding themselves in San Francisco decided to combine their love of country music into a band with a clear and simple credo. Country Risqué performed its first show in February 2022, with their debut album Doe-Eyed Loverboys & Saints produced by the legendary Sonny Smith (of Sonny & the Sunsets) out now on Rocks in Your Head Records. Defined by the coffee-and-chocolate contrast of Miles Gordon’s rich, formally trained vocals and romantic lyrics with Bromfield’s dark humor and deadpan singing style, Country Risqué explores queer love and disillusionment in the language of classic tear-in-my-beer honky-tonk music. Country Risqué has grown its numbers since its inception and currently features Richard Moog on lead guitar, Tomas Georgiou on drums, Forest Reid on the lap steel, and Oscar Garcia on bass.
