Join us for a very special, rare screening of The Closing of Winterland as we celebrate Fall at The Fillmore!
Hosted by Bob Barsotti of the Bill Graham Memorial Foundation
It was New Year’s Eve, and the last concert in San Francisco's Winterland Arena. The Grateful Dead celebrated with a four-hour-plus-long party, with guests like John Cipollina of Quicksilver Messenger Service, Ken Kesey, and actor Dan Aykroyd, who provided the midnight countdown…
All ticket proceeds benefit the Bill Graham Memorial Foundation
The Bill Graham Memorial Foundation was formed in January of 2008 in memory of the music promoter Bill Graham. The Foundation administers grants to support projects in Northern CA focusing on music, the arts and education, as well as social work, and environmental protection. The Foundation also organizes education and outreach programs, exhibitions, events and projects in like-areas which carry Bill Graham’s life story forward and keep his spirit of philanthropy alive.
Bob Barsotti started working for Bill Graham as a stagehand in 1970 while he was still going to Berkeley High School. In 1976 he became the general manager of the Winterland Arena, and for the next 10 years he worked hundreds of shows a year in just about every venue in northern California. In the 1980’s & 90’s he was responsible for all of BGP’s business relating to the Grateful Dead. As the years passed Bob’s specialty became the producing of very large events in unusual spaces, such as the first US Festival in Southern California, the Jerry Garcia Band on top of the mountain at Squaw Valley, California; or the Grateful Dead in the remote mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. In his final years at BGP, Bob became the benefit liaison, helping to raise money and consciousness for many worthwhile causes, primarily in northern California. He is currently the Director of the Bill Graham Memorial Foundation, and produces music festivals where he lives, at Black Oak Ranch in Mendocino County.
