WNP Film Club is a film series at the 4 Star Theater brought to you by Western Neighborhoods Project, your friendly community history nonprofit. Join us in celebrating movies filmed on location in San Francisco, with an emphasis on the west side. Each screening will feature an introduction by WNP’s resident film buffs, John Martini and Chelsea Sellin, who will share some background about the film and its featured locations, including historical images from the OpenSFHistory photo archive. Optional Extra Credit: stick around after the movie to chat with John and Chelsea and indulge your inner film nerd.
We’re watching 1962’s Experiment in Terror on Tuesday, November 19. Director Blake Edwards decided to follow-up his hit, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, with something completely different: a black and white noir thriller. Sisters Lee Remick and Stefanie Powers are terrorized by a stranger, with FBI Agent Glenn Ford racing to keep them safe, all culminating during a real baseball game at Candlestick Park. The random nature of the crime and invasion of privacy feels strikingly modern. Plus! Some great west side locations not commonly featured in movies, a Henry Mancini score, and a strong cameo performance by Karl the Fog.
The program begins at 7:00pm. Tickets sales support both WNP and the 4 Star Theater!
